Life with a Sprinkle of Glitter | Review
'Aloha, Sprinklerinos!'
I'm just kidding, I know I'm not Louise!
Well, there's your first clue as to what this post is about. Yep, that's right! Tonight, I am reviewing Life with a Sprinkle of Glitter by Louise Pentland who is indeed, one of my favourite people in the blogging community.
I know I'm pretty late to jump on this band wagon as many people I know bought this book pretty much straight after it was released, which was around last Summer. I was struggling to save money at this point because I'm careless and squander it, so my lovely parents got it for me as a table present this Christmas. And boy, it did not let me down!
I'm not really one for autobiographies, which is what I thought this book was going to be but even if it was I still would of asked for it because I find Louise so interesting and love having a bit of a nosy into her day-to-day life through her blog post and vlogs. But this book was a lot more than your typical autobiography. Yes, it had bits about her own life, but also it had so many cool craft ideas (this was probably my favourite section!) and how to survive education, bullying etc.
I loved her style of writing throughout, because it remained colloquial and chatty. She wasn't trying to put on a 'blogger, now professional writer' sort of front. She didn't even boast about this book, it was all very down to earth where as I feel a lot of other Youtubers are very exploitative with their merchandise.
There's some very valuable life advice here too, from not washing yourself with make up wipes to coping with confrontation and mean teachers. It all comes from a lovely, experienced lady too. This is advice I'd only take from someone so influential. I think this book is literally everything my mum has wanted/wants me to know. It's convenient how you can dip in and out in random sections and chapters (or you can read it all in order!) as well as going back to it when you need an idea, are bored or need a little reassurance.
Although Louise Peatland is a little older than me, I can relate to many of her stories in this book too! As many of you know, I'm so nosey which often why I am the first to follow lifestyle and personal blogs. So all these quips and tales really drew me to the book!
I think the most touching part of the book is the way Louise describes her bonding time with Baby Glitter and how important it is to spend time with your tiny ones. Although I don't have children of my own, I have worked with children since I was 16 so completely vouch for what she's saying. You preach it, girl!
So whatever age you are, I think this book really is worth investing in. Definitely read a few different reviews first because there may be different opinions or more information out there. But honestly, I cannot put it down and have read various sections so many times now. There's something in it for everyone!
