The Dirty Truth About 'Britain First'
This is the first time I'm really going to share my political beliefs with you guys. The reason I am writing this post is because my Facebook has been littered with posts from a contemporary movement called 'Britain First'.
Now, in case you have never heard of this 'movement' before, I will try my best to explain it for you.
Britain First is a far-right wing nationalist party who want to 'take Britain back' and restore British values. It was founded in 2011 by a chap named Jim Dowson, who operated a BNP (British National Party) call centre in Northern Ireland but was soon eradicated from the role after it was discovered that he indecently assaulted a woman in a hotel room. Dowson freely expressed his homophobic and sexist views.
Dowson soon recommended that his followers supported UKIP, another fascist political movement, as there were no candidates to stand for the BNP at this time. 'Britain First' is considered as the 'offspring' of the BNP, due to the similarity in beliefs and involvement of Dowson.
Britain First is a crisis. Despite a statement made by Dowson in 2014 saying that Britain First is being overruled by racists, wasn't the origin of the party racist in itself, considering the main incentive was to make Britain well, British again? A big worry of mine is the fact that there are now 947, 748 likes on their Facebook page as the aim to 'abolish Islam extremism' blows more and more out of proportion, as the page targets refugees and the entirety of the Muslim faith, rather than the extremists.
The movement have very deceitful methods of getting you intrigued and supporting their beliefs. You may see your friends share their 'Dogs die in hot car' posts, or using Lee Rigby as a poster boy for their values. aims and beliefs. This is their way of enticing you into reasoning what they have to say. When you like these posts, you are just inflating their ego more and more. It gives them the security they're after, that people agree with them even when they really, deep down, don't give a shit about those memes, but restoring Britain into a nation where at least 80% of the population are actually purely British.
Well, to me, if you are so accepting of minority groups then you will support the host of different needs they have such as places of worship, rather than trying to get them banned for your own comfort and reassurance. If you're accepting of minority groups, you would accept each and every one of them, rather than all but one.
In my own opinion, this stupid movement has been brought through the Islamophobia presented by the mass media through the hypodermic syringe. Attention is constantly brought to terrorism, Jihadists and Muslim extremists to the point where people are becoming reluctant to welcome various faiths and cultures into our society. For example, there are people out there who witnessed 9/11 and believed that the Muslims were 'responsible', therefore generating pre-concieved ideas for their children causing them to grow up less accepting of the wonderful cultural changes that are happening to our country. We should be celebrating these changes and not letting a few scum bags persuade us to resent it because the media fail to inform us about the evil things some British and Christian citizens have committed.
There has also been a lot of controversy within the group regarding the amount of refugees coming in to Britain for safety and a new life. This is somewhat disgraceful in their eyes, yet I'm sure if their families faced life or death circumstances every day as a result of terrorism, they would appreciate and demand the help of another country. I would gladly have some money taken from my wages to help those in need, rather than be selfish and spend it on my own luxuries. Yes, there are other people who need help and benefits too, but let's support the terrified people who come into our country in desperate need of finding a job and starting a new life for their children and themselves. Let's not protest about them 'stealing our jobs', because they're not. In actual fact, they're filling in the roles some British lazy sod couldn't be arsed to do, because they are desperate for a new and improved life. Respect that rather than discourage it. There are some amazing foreign citizens in this country who do amazing things. Some of the nurses and doctors on my mum's unit at work are some of the best she's ever met. Would you really reject life saving treatment from a doctor because he was Muslim?
British Values are a big part of the early years curriculum. Although this sounds a bit self focused and it may sound like it defeats the objective of accepting those who have different backgrounds to ourselves, they were actually first put in place to teach children to accept others who are different to ourselves, whether it's through disability, skin colour, religion, economic state, etc. The values promoted in the education system are:
On a final note, please know that I love having feedback from you guys and hearing your opinions, but if there is anything racist, homophobic, sexist or hateful displayed on my blog it will be removed.

More recently, there was a 'parade' in Burton town centre, somewhere quite local to me, to end 'Muslim extremism'. As far as I'm aware there have actually been no events of extremism in this town. However, there is a high percentage of Muslims and Asians residing in the town and unfortunately, fascists like to tar them all with the same brush so this was an opportunity for them to parade around and make a massive deal out of their narrow minded beliefs. There is a video of the rally which you can watch here.
Now, I respect people's beliefs on a certain basis; their is no discrimination involved and they do not personally target an individual for irrelevant or sensitive issues. So, I do not respect the views of Britain First.
I also do not support the fact that the police were guarding these scum bags as they paraded through the town flaunting their radical beliefs and Union Jacks. Although they have a duty of protecting others and preventing disaster, they also have a duty of promoting equality and diversity, and punishing those who inflict racism on others. The fact that the police were defending these people and telling those shouting 'racist scum' to pipe down sort of proves the 'institutional racism' card is still valid.
Another thing that bugs me about the group is the fact that they publish on their forums they are not 'racist due to the amount of members of ethnic minority groups that participate in their rallies. Yet, they have walked around with signs demanding that plans for building Mosques are scrapped.

- Democracy: Teaching children that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, everyone's needs deserve to be accommodated despite differences, there is no biased behaviour based on race or religion within the setting between staff, parents or children. Promoting equality.
- Individual Liberty: Giving children the right and freedom to express their true identity regardless of race, religion, skin colour or needs
- Rule of law: Following the rules and regulations of the country you live in
- Mutual respect and tolerance for others: This one speaks for itself! Again, promoting and celebrating equality and diversity in the setting.
When I am a teacher I will make it my duty to eradicate these preconceived ideas that racism is a good thing that makes our country stronger. I will teach my pupils that the human race can achieve so much if we treat each other the way we wish to be treated ourselves. Movements like this need to stop for the sake of these innocent Muslims and ethnic minorities who are having the reputations of their faith and culture targeted by some bigoted idiots who fail to see everyone has red blood. Everyone is human despite their religious and cultural beliefs, and this is the way we should treat them rather than making each and every one of them feel guilty for the actions of an extreme minority group. Celebrate the fact our country is a multi-cultural society rather than shitting on it!
On a final note, please know that I love having feedback from you guys and hearing your opinions, but if there is anything racist, homophobic, sexist or hateful displayed on my blog it will be removed.

A very nice article, and lovely to see a young person putting their view down about this horrible organisation; you are the future of this country, and I can see that with people like you around, it will still be a great place when you reach my age in my 50's :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for such lovely feedback! I never really took that much interest in politics but since I've turned 18 I've realised it's so important that young people know who they're voting for and really look into things for themselves, rather than giving in to peer pressure. I have seen too much racism, religious hate and it's driven me to the edge! This party needs to end.
DeleteThank you again for such wonderful feed back, take care! x
