Malia 2015// Travel and Lifestyle
Hi, guys!
As you may know, I haven't given you guys anything to read for the past week as I have been on a lovely holiday with my wonderful Tom. So, as I returned just last night/early this morning, I thought I would treat you all to a few photos and stories about our time there before I go back to my usual hectic regime and settle back into work.

We arrived at Heraklion Airport, Crete at around half nine in the evening last Tuesday, were quickly transferred straight to our lovely and dainty hotel, Mistral Studios, which was right in the centre of the strip. After briskly getting changed and showered, we hit the strip, starting in small dance bars and later ending up in Reflex, a bit tipsy (I think I was more than a bit tipsy on the first night). We had a variety of drinks throughout the holiday, my favorite being a strong head fucker. The first night was the first time I'd ever had one of these drinks, as well as zombie which was equally tasty.

Night 1// Walk to the beach |
Unlike last year, the nightlife unfortunately wasn't free, so we decided to invest in a week-long club pass, which would get us in everywhere for free. This was worth the price and saved us so much money. Although, we only really went to clubs for about 3 nights as we were just so tired by the end of each day. But, when we did go out some of our favorite clubs were:
Candy Club
Reflex
Cloud 9
Warehous

Near the end of the holiday, there was enough entertainment generated by bitch fights occurring in the hotel lobby at night. On our 5th night, we were extremely cheeky and sat with our hotel room door open and a drink, listening to a particularly entertaining argument between a group of girls. We were on the ground floor so we could hear everything...even the odd slap!

But, on one night (Saturday) we attended one of the many events the box office had to offer, which was the PaintGlow party. The atmosphere was amazing and we got covered in paint. Tom's face looked amazing at one point with all the different colored specks of paint, but he then proceeded to wipe them off and complain that he didn't have any paint!
Unfortunatley, I didn't take my phone or iPod to take photos on for the paint party as I didn't want them to get wrecked or anything, but I'm sure you can imagine what it was like. A massive festival stage, various DJ's (all of them did so well to create such an amazing atmosphere), some little shouty guy getting everyone excited, and men in overalls shooting UV paint at everyone.

There will also be a picture of the t-shirt I wore to the event on my Instagram profile as soon as my iPod let's the internet work.

Food. The food in Malia was absolutely gorgeous. We stuck to having an English breakfast every morning as it was the cheapest option. You may be aware that the Greek economy is a mess at the moment, so everything was pretty expensive.
A gyros or souvlaki wrap was eaten every night without fail, too. There's also lots of photos of the delicious food we ate on my Instagram, which you can look at here. I will also provide my user name at the end of the post.
Back to our hotel, which was pretty much perfect in every way and deserved way more than 2 stars! The staff there were wonderful and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and overall, a great stay. From night one, they made us feel so welcome!
Although it was self catering, we had everything we needed. A calm, relaxed pool area (extremely clean too considering it was only 2 stars!), a 24hr bar and immediate access to all the shops in the day time, as well as restaurants for our meals. Again, we were right on the strip so if we wanted to go out it was just a two minute walk to any club or bar we fancied. The walk to the beach was also very short, as it was just five minutes away. So, if you're coming to Malia make sure you check in to Mistral Studios for your stay.

Relaxing by the pool side// Day 5 |
During the day time we were never bored. We religiously went to the same bar, Zoo, for ice cream around midday. But sometimes, we went to this cute and quirky one just on the border of old Malia. Occasionally we walked down to the beach. On one occasion we stopped off at this really cool bohemian bar for an apple martini and the chairs were like hammocks, hanging down from the ceiling. I was so reluctant to get up!
There were plenty of shops to look around with some...unusual gifts such as penis candles and lighters. During the evening time we went back to the room and had a game of cards with a drink, followed by some tea and a nap. We had such a chilled out routine. I could honestly live like that!

Beautiful beach// Last day!! |
As to traveling there, I think it was the second time I'd been in an airport and not panicked. However, when I was being searched at East Midlands in security, I was asked where my mum was by one of the security people. Awkward. Traveling home was a different story, as

Overall, it's been an amazing experience for me. I'm sad but glad to be back home with my family again. I'm also extremely grateful for such a memorable and experience with Tom. Despite only being with Tom for what's coming up to nine months now, it feels like I have spent a life time with him, which I love. We spent every waking moment together without even the smallest of squabbles and always had something to talk about. It's given us so much assurance for a happy and bright future and we're definitely going to travel together for years to come!
