Day 1 of Scrapbooking // Photography and Crafts
Hi, guys!
This is the second Photography and Crafts post I will have treated you all too in the space of two days. As I have been off work sick for the past two days, I've had to keep myself occupied doing various bits and bobs. It's been a bit boring, to be honest, as I am not allowed to expose myself to too much sound, so that means no loud music or anything, which makes me sad. *Sad Face*.
But, instead of moping around, I've been doing various arty bits. This includes starting mine and Tom's scrapbook with loads of little bits from Malia, as well as our disposable camera photos (which have finally been collected!).
I'm sorry if it seems like I'm bombarding you with photos of the finished/half-finished pages but I am so pleased with what's been done. I'm not a pro-scrapbooker but I do like to make things look pretty!
Considering I haven't done much scrapbooking since I was around 11 (at a workshop, I've never had the patience to keep my own scrapbook), I'm pretty darn chuffed with these two pages. I've started four pages in to the book so I can fill the first pages with tickets and other photos before the holiday. I want to keep it organised and in chronological order!
You will probably recognize the backdrop of the page from my Paperchase Haul, as I have used the atlas tissue paper. I thought it would be appropriate to use to make a page of boarding passes and other travel related things more interesting. Over the tissue paper, I have used these cute holiday-themed stamps from Tiger in Derby. I love them because they have this child-like drawing look and just make the spread look fun.
These stamps are great if you've got kids yourself and can keep them entertained for ages. There's a massive variety of them in Tiger stores, such as pet, holiday and letter themed stamps (as you can tell, the holiday themed ones are what I have used). Just give them a book of blank paper and they can use the stamps to make their own pictures, or they can be used to decorate school projects etc.
This is the second side of the double page spread. Before we went away, I bought a disposable camera to take to Malia because I didn't dream of taking my big DSLR and losing it. Plus, if handled correctly, disposable cameras can produce quite nice photos. I used this 'selfie' we took on the last day as the main focus of the 'title page', and stuck it in with some photo corners of a torn out map of Malia. As a bit of a frame, I used some Greek flag cocktail sticks. It gave the page a nice color scheme of blue, as it worked well with the sea from the map!
This page is a lot more vibrant! I based it around the theme of the Malia strip, using some lovely club themed paper from the Paperchase Wildlife Paper Pack. To go with this, I used some saucy drink stirrers, shaped as dancers. This goes with the theme of the page and it also looks really good against the neon colours of the paper and from the photograph of the strip (again, taken with a disposable camera). On the white bits of the paper from where I tore it, I dabbed it with some blue ink just to jazz it up a bit.
You probably noticed the big sequence of stickers going vertically across the page. Tom and I collected these during the week as they were given to us upon entering the clubs. As you can tell, we went to Reflex a lot...
On the corner of the page, I added some little gem stickers because I thought they were really pretty and shiny and I really wanted to use them for something and it seemed more appropriate to use them on this page. I don't know why. It just did.
The final page I did today looks a bit boring, but I promise it is a working progress. I collected loads of pamphlets of events we went to, two of which are featured on this page (I have big plans for the Paint Party page!). But it looks so bland at the moment. I repeated the gem sticker thing on the top right-hand corner of this page but I am thinking of drawing really sketchy blue lagoon and head fucker cocktails, and little watermelon fishbowls.
I hope you've enjoyed looking at what I've accomplished with the book so far, as I have spent most of the day doing this and various other little arty bits! I will be posting pictures of more pages soon, when I have done more pages that is, and keep you updated!
If you haven't yet read my Paperchase Haul, which features some of the materials used on these pages, then you can read it here.
Or, if you haven't heard much about the holiday being documented in the scrapbook, you can read all about that here.
Take care and continue to enjoy your weekend! xo
