The Alphabet Photography Challenge// 2015

Aloha, humans!

For the rest of this year, I will be weening myself back into my old hobby of photography, which is something I sadly lost into half way through my BTEC this year. I basically lost interest in it because I stopped thinking creatively or about 'what would make the perfect photograph', and got into the habit of thinking technically, which never really worked out and in actual fact, made my images worse. My best photographs were produced when I used my imagination rather than my knowledge. So, I'm going to inspire my creativity again by partaking in The Alphabet Photography Challenge.

I have an aim of completing this challenge by the end of the year, so December 31st 2015. There will be a page at the top of my blog where I will put these photographs for you to look at. As a reminder to what I'm doing, when the challenge is complete I will make a post on New Year's Day with all the photographs I took.
The aim of this challenge is to basically replicate each letter of the alphabet with a photograph of something with sentimental value to yourself, or just something you really like. So for example, you could do 'C is for Chocolate', and take a photograph of your favorite chocolate bar or something along those lines. That's not my most creative suggestion, I know, but I don't plan on giving any of my ideas away just yet.

I started the challenge today with the letter 'D'.

'D' is for Daisy (my dog)

I shot these photos with my Nikon D3100 camera, which is a DSLR. As well as this, I also used my 55-200mm lens. It is my prized posession, although I haven't been using it too much lately for reasons stated at the very beginning of this post.
I took photographs of Daisy for this letter. A full portrait shot of her looking very peaceful, yawning. And another of her paws, so I could just show some effective detail.
I chose to photograph Daisy as she is part of my family and I love her very much. I had her as a present in year 9 one night when my parents were a bit tipsy and, after a lot of egging on, agreed to keep and buy her off some close friends who bred Daisy's litter. They immediately resented their decision after a long night of crying and being woken up at 4.00am to find she'd wriggled her way through the cat flap and ran out near a main road, only to be thankfully be returned by one of our neighbors. Daisy means the world to me and always has through the past 4 years. And I know she will for many more years to come.

If you consider yourself to be a creative person, have a go at this challenge! It's so fun and is a perfect distraction. You really get to channel yourself into it and express yourself and show aspects of your life through photography. You don't even have to have a swanky camera to do it. You can download an app on your phone called Retrica and still take beautiful photos. Upload them to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or your own blog! If you decide to take part, link me to your pages in the comments below so I can see how creative you guys really are.

Take care, always xo
