September Goals | Lifestyle

Hello, September

I understand how that pug is feeling because September 2015 has just come around so fast!

And what would a new September (and academic year) be without a few goals?
These goals will be to do with my academic life, social life and work life. More importantly, they will be keeping me motivated to work hard and succeed!

Academic

As many of you may know, I am now officially a Level 3 Childcare and Education student at Buxton and Leek college. This has been a very scary environment change from Derby, but much more positive. It's time to turn over a new leaf and work hard, here is how I will achieve that...

- Keep organised (all my new stationary will help me with that!)
- Start work when it is set
-Always go in to college with an open mind and positive attitude towards learning
-Take notes at placement, there will always be something to improve on!
-ALWAYS hand work in on the deadline day
-Make your work look pretty! Lecturers love good presentation
-Always ask for feedback. Whether it is good or bad, heed it. It will help you reach your potential!
-Make new friends and have fun!

New ring binders, now on offer at Sainsbury's!

Work

Time to repeat myself again. Because of health issues and college commitments, I need to stick to somewhere more local for work. I have my Sainsbury's interview tomorrow so fingers crossed that will go well! If not, there is plenty I can do to try and get another job. If at any point I am successful for any application, here are some work goals...

- Make some more new friends
- Attend every shift despite what your anxiety tells you
-Offer to cover for people, that way people will offer to return the favor when you need it most!
-Befriend the managers...probably easier said than done!
-Try hard at interviews and gain knowledge of work environments in preparation

Social

Despite all this hard work I must do over the next few years, I need a little time to myself and some time to go out and mix!
As I may have already mentioned, my anxiety is pretty dreadful at the moment and I am really suffering, but there are so many things I can do to change that and make things better for myself...

- Stop presuming everyone is against you! There are some really nice people out there!
- Get out your comfort zone and arrange nights out in Stafford or Derby
- Go to parties if invited
- Learn to say no... if you are uncomfortable with doing something, it is important to stay true to yourself and your gut instinct, it could save you a lot of trouble and anxiety!
- Make friends with the staff on placement, they can really help you out if you give them reason to!
- Mix with new people

Lifestyle

There are some general changes I believe I need to make to my lifestyle so I can go on and live a healthier, happier life...

-Exercise! Go on more bike rides, dog walks, swimming or take up a new fitness class. Not only do you want a slim figure so you have an excuse to pig out at Christmas, but also to release those endorphins and reflect on things that are making you feel bad
-Eat a bit more healthily, this will also make you feel a lot better, as well as improving your complexion and general health.
-Experiment with make up a bit more, this will help reach new confidence highs and be a positive change
-Keep taking St John's Wort for natural mood elevation. Maybe one day I won't need it!

These goals seem very general, but at the moment I need to get a grip on life as a whole before I start setting more specific targets and achievements.

What are your September goals?

Take care and have a brilliant start to your new academic year (if applicable) xo
