Bad Education: The Movie | Review
Yesterday evening, there was a spontaneous decision for a double family outing (Tom's mum, my mum, Tom and me) to go and see Bad Education:The Movie. It was a bit risqué to take the parents, because they hadn't really seen much of the series so ultimately they didn't expect the numerous sex toys being used as ammunition or seeing Jack Whitehall teabag a swan (I even had to explain to my mum what tea bagging was...).
The film starts in Amsterdam, where Alfie Wickers (Jack Whitehall) has taken Form K on a history trip. As per usual, disaster strikes when Mitchell spikes Alfie's crepe with magic mushrooms whilst in the Anne Frank Museum, which leads to a terrible reputation for the unruly history teacher amongst parents, especially Joe Poulter's mother...
The events that took place in the museum lead to the cancellation of the post-GCSE Las Vegas trip. However, as an alternative, Fraser (Mathew Home) offers school funding for a class trip to Cornwall. To get around Joe's protective mother, Alfie puts together a plan of educational activities for the trip. But there's no fooling Mrs Poulter, who has assigned herself with the role as 'trip supervisor'.

On a whole, the film was absolutely amazing. There was no change in the characters what so ever and it was just as hilarious, if not more, as the original series. In my opinion, it was a lot more raunchy which isn't bad at all, and expected as the season finished last year, so Jack Whitehall had the opportunity to completely re-introduce the characters and all their personalities.
I found that the film had a brilliant story line, and you could really tell Whitehall was behind it, as it has the same old teenage, silly humor. Nothing had changed from the series, there were no bad character changes, everyone was still the same. If the characters had been altered too much for the sake of a film, then it wouldn't be 'Bad Education'.
One thing that I was confused about, however, was the fact that Mitchell was supposed to have left the series just before the GCSE exams took place, although he did make a small appearance in 'The Exam'. But he appeared in full uniform and as though he was still a pupil of the school which was a bit confusing. However, I'm not complaining. He comes out with brilliant one liners.
I think they could have done with bringing Fraser into the equation a bit more. I may be biased, because he is my favorite character in the series (sorry, Jack), but I think he could have brought something else to the film. I would have liked to have seen him going on the Cornwall trip with the class? But on the other hand, he had as much of an appearance in the film as he does in the episodes.
But, overall, the film was amazing. There were points where I was crying with laughter, such as the cabbage patch scene, the Eden project zip wire...I can't really say much more, especially if you haven't seen it yet!
Bad Education: The Movie came out on the 21st of August, if you haven't seen it already, go now! You won't regret it.
In other news, expect a new review this week as tomorrow evening I will be going to see the new Paper Towns film, based on the John Green novel which I read last year.
Keep smiling, it's almost Autumn!
