Leibster Award | Blogging Things

Hello everyone!

Well, all I can say is that I'm pretty darn chuffed thanks to the lovely Pip, author of Writing for Jonny.

The Leibster Award basically is a nominated task among the blogging community. If you are nominated, you then have to complete eleven questions assigned and publicise eleven facts about yourself in the same post. Then, nominate eleven of your favourite bloggers to do the same thing. The word 'leibster', as Pip pointed out, means 'dearest' in German, which is quite sweet knowing you are voted to complete the task because your blog is dear and valued by someone else.

So, my questions (and answers) are as follows....

1. If you could go back and teach your childhood self one thing, what would it be?

People can be cruel, and say nasty things. Just because people think these things (and say them), it
does not mean they are true. Turn your cheek, ignore it and continue to be yourself. You can
become your own worst enemy, don't let other people's opinions make that happen.

2. What is your guilty pleasure?

This is actually a really difficult question, because I don't really have any guilt in most of my
pleasures. I'd have to say really cheesy, 90's pop music. Especially during car journeys. Backstreet
    Boys are a personal favourite.

3. Who is/has been your biggest blogging inspiration?

I'd definitely have to say that I have a few. Firstly, Abi. Her posts gave me the motivation to speak
out more about my mental health after I'd faced stigmatising comments from people who
considered to be 'friends'. She really did get me back on track just through speaking out about her
    own issues.
My second would be Hannah Maggs. She is very well known, and I was directed to her through
watching one of A Sprinkle of Glitter's (who is also one of my inspirations) haul videos. All of her
posts and videos are so beautifully presented, she varies all her content from beauty to family, so
I'm never bored. Personally, I love her family posts as they're always so joyful yet honest about
parenthood. She admits she struggles at times and doesn't make out she has a perfect life everyone has to envy  through endless hauls and boastful behaviour about her lifestyle. Just so personable
Her and her husband, Stef, are such a brilliant couple and really good parents. I aspire
to have my own little family unit like that.

4. What is your favourite thing about yourself?

In all honesty I really don't know. I don't admire myself enough which is bad, because we all need
to love ourselves and have positive self esteem! But if I have to pick something, I'd say I'm quite
resilient. It takes a lot for me to give something up, usually because I don't start anything I don't
feel will last. There's been many a time where I've had a strop and cry because I thought I couldn't
do something, but I always pick myself off, dust myself on and continue.

5. Funniest thing you've ever witnessed?

Oh, now I'm being tested! I've seen so many hilarious things happen that have had me in stitches.
Considering my boyfriend is also a bundle of laughs and so silly at times, I am always laughing.
However, it's definitely got to be last summer when we dropped by at Tom's with my cousins. My
mum had basically planned for a surprise visit to Alton Towers, and neither of my cousins knew
about it, but Tom and his mum did. Just through general chit chat, Tom's mum was mid-way
through her sentence asking if they were looking forward to going to Alton Towers, when Tom
instinctively flung his arm towards her face. Obviously it wouldn't have been funny if she was
hurt but it was just the speed of the reaction. It was very much a 'you had to be there' moment.
I know I've had so many funny memories, but this is one that I still smirk at when I think of
it and the one that's most fresh in my memory as I write this.

6. What is your main vice?

I compare myself too much and expect things to be perfect and I don't know why. I have my own
unique style of drawing, which is mainly illustrations and stuff, but I get mad at myself if they're
not life like or professional in appearance.

7. If you could go back and live in any era, what would it be?

I'd love to live in the 1960's. Not for the really clichĂ© girly reasons, for the 'love and romance'
standards, but for so many different things. Less reliance on the internet, independence, being
able to hold a conversation with a stranger over something as simple as the weather and not
    looking like you're bonkers!

8. What has been your greatest achievement?

I've just persevered through my life. I still get upset about the odd bits and pieces but I've
over-come a lot of anger from previous life events and just told myself 'things will get better',
    and they have!

9. If you could create your own TV show, what would it be about and what would it be called?

Tom and I have had this big inside joke going on for about a year now about our own 'character'
so I think it would definitely be about him and his dog, and their daily errands.

10. What is your biggest wish for the future?

I know this is very generic and unoriginal, but my one and only wish for the future would just to
be happy and healthy, achieve my career goals and have my own little healthy, happy family.

11. If you could thing about the world we live in today, what would it be?

I'd want more justice and equality for everything. Regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexuality,
religion or social background. Everyone deserves the same opportunities and everyone
    deserves to believe in themselves.

Now, I have to write eleven facts about myself. I feel like I share a lot about myself as a person on here so I will try and make these as interesting as possible.

1.  I own a total of 26 pairs of pyjamas

2.  hate tea. Whether it's herbal, green, earl grey or whatever. I can't stand the taste.

3.  Loads of people love sleep and say how they can't bare to get out of bed. I actually have some
genetic problem with my thyroid which literally makes it seem impossible to get out of bed,
and messes with my body temperature a lot! This is called congenital hypothyroidism.

4.  I worked a season at Alton Towers as a ride host. You can read about my experience here.

5.  When I was thirteen, I thought Korea was in Spain because 'it sounds Spanish'

6.  I don't know my six, seven, eight, nine or twelve times tables. I also only know half of my four
times tables. And I want to teach primary school aged children. Oops.

7.   Before I wanted to be a teacher, I worked extremely hard at my art and wanted to be a fashion
photographer. Now, I can't stand the idea of it and get bored with various parts of fashion.

8.  In my spare time, I look at desk space ideas on Pinterest and design my dream home. Sad,
     I know.

9.   Mashed potato makes me sick. Literally, every time I force it down to be polite I wretch.

10.  I can only watch horror films alone. I don't like watching them with other people because I
know they will wind me up and take it into their own hands to try and freak me out

11.  In relation to fact number 10, I love horror films. But hate zombies. There's something about
them that I find really boring unless I'm shooting them on a game or whatever. That's when
       I find them scary.

Now it's time for me to nominate eleven bloggers, and give them eleven questions to answer (as well as the eleven facts they have to give about themselves). This is something I love to do because I'm such a nosey person! But don't worry, I won't get too personal.

First things first, my nominations are:

Sally at diagonsally.com

Emma at unf4bul0us.com

Abigail Jessica at abigailjessicax.com

Apologies if you were not chosen. Please don't be offended because it was such a hard decision to make. I read an array of wonderful, lovely blogs and these are just some of them.

Back to the point of my post, my questions for you are...

1. If there was a film being made about your life, who would you want to star as you?

2. What has been one of your best experiences in your life and how has it changed you as a person?

3. What is your favourite photo? Why? What does it remind you of?

4. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it?

5. If you could repeat any memory, what would it be?

6. Who or what has been your biggest inspiration? What were you inspired to do?

7. What brings you up when you are down?

8. What inspired you to start blogging?

9. If you could meet with any two people, dead or alive, who would they be and what would you
    do to pass the time?

10. Have you ever had an embarrassing moment where you just wanted the ground to swallow
      you up? What was it?

11. What are your ambitions for the future?

I hope you have enjoyed this post, and I'm sorry if it's been really long winded!

Once again, a massive thanks to Pip for nominating me. I've not been nominated for anything like this before. So it was something quite special!

Take care, until next time...

Grace xx
