June Playlist
Hello everyone!
I hope you're all ok and enjoying the last few weeks of June. I cannot believe we are halfway through 2018 already! I honestly thought this year was going to drag but it's doing quite the opposite, it seems.
This post, as you can probably judge from the title, is going to be all about what my favourite songs this month have been. They're not necessarily chart songs or new releases, but just music I've really enjoyed listening to over the past few weeks. I'm going to try and make this a more frequent thing as I always find it interesting to see what other people are listening to and also recommending music to other people. So I hope you guys enjoy this!
1. Levitate-Imagine Dragons
I'm really not the biggest fan of Imagine Dragons but I've FINALLY watched Passengers all the way to the end (amazing film by the way) and this came on at the end credits and it's an amazing song. It's a bit bittersweet but so catchy and I love it. Made me dead emotional at the end of Passengers though hahaha.
2. Meant to Be-Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line
Don't know about you guys but there's something about the guy from Florida Georgia Line's voice that's just....mmmmmmm *heart eyes*. All seriousness though, it's a great song. I'm not usually one from love songs but this one doesn't make me cringe like most love songs so it's all good.
3. Love Lies-Khalid & Normani
Just realised despite saying the music I'm sharing on here isn't necessarily all new releases, all I've shared with you so far is pretty much new chart releases. Hmmmmm nice one, Liv. Anyway, Khalid is such an underrated artist and deserves to be way more well-known he is. This is such a sexy, smooth song and I lurrrrve it. Both Khalid and Normani's voices being put together was an amazing idea.
4. Where is My Mind (originally by The Pixies)-Maxcene Cyrin
I first heard this when I watched the drama about Sophie Lancaster's murder Murdered for Being Different and it was used in the kiss scene where Sophie met her boyfriend at the gig, and then (this is the bit that absolutely BROKE ME) when Sophie's boyfriend wakes up from his coma after the attack and is told he needs to say goodbye to Sophie because she's not getting better and then just a load of their memories starts playing with this music oh my friggin god it's so emotional. But honestly it's a beautiful piece of music and I love it.
5. Taxi Cab-Twenty One Pilots
I've had a pretty bad mental health month with regards to PTSD and anxiety over June and Twenty One Pilots music has always been my go-to if I ever feel really shitty. I know a lot of the lyrics are very depressing but honestly it's so nice to hear music written by someone who has felt the exact same feelings as you (obviously it sucks for them but you get what I'm trying to say).
6. One Kiss-Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa
It's just so catchy and makes me want to go on a mad night out so badly. It also keeps me going in the gym and helps me stay motivated. I thought when this was first played on Radio One that it was going to be so overplayed but honestly I'm still not bored of it and it's been out for a while now.
7. Humble-Kendrick Lamar
I've loved Kendrick Lamar's music since he released 'Backseat Freestyle'. His voice is so different and I just love his style. I'm not the biggest fan of his more recent stuff although it is good, but this song is just my favourite. Perfect for when I'm in a shit mood, perfect for when I'm in a great mood. It's just an amazing song.
8. Don't Look Back in Anger-Oasis
I hate Oasis. I think the Gallagher brothers are an overrated pair of mugs and cannot abide what they stand for. But I LOVE this song and it honestly means a lot to me. I'd also sing along to it in a bar (if I was sloshed enough). It's decent. I'm not going to say anything else positive about it though because I don't want to give the Gallagher's too much credit hahahah.
9. Never Stop-George Marshman
Ooooh, what's that? A family promotion? My brother is basically an EDM artist folks, and I'm so happy that his first track has been released on Spotify and Apple Music. If you like EDM and real house music (not that Tom Zannetti, LADS LADS LADS, House Every Weekend Bollocks) then go and give this a listen because George is honestly going somewhere with this. It's being streamed globally so it says something good, I wouldn't recommend it either if it wasn't a decent piece! Another bit of music that keeps me going in the gym.
10. The Middle-Bipolar Sunshine & DJ Snake
Another bitter-sweet dance piece I cannot get enough of. I love both the lyrics and the sound. It's an oldie but a goldie. I don't understand how music critics sit and write about music all the time because I find it really hard to describe why I really like and dislike certain songs and pieces of music. I've done a sh*t job with this one, haven't I?
****
All seriousness though...
I've really enjoyed writing this post and getting back into blogging again. I just need to keep getting a constant flow of ideas going so if you guys want to comment what kind of things you would like to read about that would be smashing. I hope you've enjoyed reading this post despite it's lack of creativity and depth (it really is hard to write about music and I don't know how regular I can make these posts without sounding like I'm writing the same sort of thing about every bloody song I hear). See you for the next one!
Ba-bye now!
Liv xo
