Why I Want to Teach | Lifestyle

Hello, everyone!

What with it being a week away from college enrollment, and a topic of interest for me, I thought I would share my first 'childcare' related post with you guys.
I've decided, because of my new college course (CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education) and with the recent increase in parenting blogs following me recently, I would share my top reasons of why I want to go into the teaching industry.

Although this course is going to give me multiple direct career options, such as being a hospital play worker, child minder, nursery nurse, teaching assistant or going on to higher education to study midwifery, primary education (QTS), pediatric nursing and social work.

The career I have chosen, and have adored since the age of 14, is primary school teaching (Key Stage 2) and here's why...

1) I've always been a very maternal person- I've loved babies since a young age and love to see how they grow, and the personality they grow into.

2) Although reception children and are adorable, there are a lot of subjects that I am passionate and more able to teach because of the framework when it comes to Key Stage 2. Two of these subjects are history and creative literacy. If you, as a teacher, are passionate about a subject you can influence that on a pupil.

3) I love the challenges it presents, such as controlling disruptive behavior, SEN (special educational needs) and meeting deadlines.

4) I love planning things, one thing I will be looking forward to is the drama productions!

5) It's a second home for the pupil's, I like the responsibility of making sure they're in a safe environment

6) Pastoral care is something I take great pride in, and is a huge part of teaching

7) You learn on the job, whether it's from training programs or colleagues

8) The university journey. I love working hard towards my goals and gaining experience from placements

9) Special Educational Needs- this is an aspect I have had a little bit of experience in. I love the challenges it presents, as it teaches you to think on your feet. It's also extremely rewarding

10) It's an underestimated job. People presume it's just wiping snotty noses. When in fact, you are preparing children for the next step, giving them the basic knowledge they need for their futures.
